Elwyn R. Hare

Elwyn “Mike” R. Hare, 98, formerly
of Grancare Assisted Living Apartments, died on Saturday, September 16, 2017,
at Agnesian Hospice Home of Hope, after a very painful fractured hip.  Mike was visited the morning of his death by
some of his favorite people, his granddaughter, his great-granddaughter, his
pastor and his niece, before he died peacefully in his sleep later in the
afternoon.  Mike was very peaceful and
pain-free when he passed because of the doctors and nurses at the Hospice
House.

Mike was born on May 24, 1919
in the Town of Mackford, Green Lake County.
He was the son of Walter and Anna Hare.
On June 19, 1943, he married Elverda Koepke in Eldorado.  The Lord blessed them with 68 wonderful
years. She preceded him in death on March 6, 2012.

Mike was employed with the
State of Wisconsin Department of Corrections until his retirement.  He was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church
in Fond du Lac.  He was an avid Brewer
and Packer fan, and enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter and great
granddaughter.  He was Megan’s babysitter
as she was growing up starting at a very young age of 72.  He was so good to her and now for the last 21
months he has probably relived memories through his great granddaughter Abbi.

Mike is survived by his
granddaughter: Megan (Tony) Compton and their daughter Abigail Compton, who is
Mike’s first and only great grandchild; a sister, Lois Marchant of Ripon; a
sister-in-law, Helen Hare; a daughter-in-law, Kellie (Gray) Hare; many nieces,
nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by
his parents, his wife, his only son Rick, his brother Kenny and two sisters,
Elaine Pinkerton and Beatrice Winterheck. Also preceding him were his brother
and sisters in law, Aubrey and Myram Koepke, Charles and Ester Koepke, Ben and
Celesta Commo, Forest Pinkerton and Nelson Pinkerton.
