Emil “Ernie” E. Salzwedel

Emil “Ernie” E. Salzwedel on April 5, 2013, went home to be with his Lord and Savior and reunited with the love of his life, Eunice A. Compton Tasch, whom he married on June 30, 1973, at Memorial Baptist Church, and who preceded him in death on December 18, 2005. He was born on August 1, 1924, in Princeton, the son of August and Paulina Salzwedel. Emil was employed as a custodian for Goodrich High School and the Administration Office before retiring. He was an active member of Memorial Baptist Church. Ernie was a faithful servant to the Lord for his entire life. In his younger years he was very involved with the youth in his church. In his later years, he took a quieter approach by taking it upon himself to straighten up church pews after every service and making sure that all the lights were turned off before he left. More than anything he loved spending time with his family and friends and sharing stories about his past. He especially enjoyed talking about his old Model A Ford, his Harley Davidson, the ranch that he grew up on, and the years he spent in Kansas City, Missouri. He was a kindhearted soul that never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to have known and loved him.
