Ernest A. Paul

Ernest A. Paul, 88, of Fox Lake, passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Prairie Ridge Assisted Living in Beaver Dam.

 

Ernest was born July 24, 1924 in the town of Fox Lake, the son of William and Louise Grahn Paul. On September 24, 1943 he was united in marriage to Catherine Baszynski. Ernest operated the family farms until his retirement. He served on the school board, held church offices and offices in agricultural organizations such as AMPI, and supported local FFA chapters. Ernest loved to bowl, play ball, and was on the local ball team for years. He enjoyed travel, and had a passion for dancing. He was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Fox Lake.

 

Ernest is survived by his wife of 69 years, Catherine of Fox Lake; a daughter, Janice Johnson of Beloit; three sons, Ronald (Kathleen) Paul of Fox Lake, Dale (Laura) Paul of Fox Lake, and Kenneth (Nancy) Paul of Beaver Dam; nine grandchildren, Stephen (Lori) Paul, Michael Paul, William Paul, Thomas Paul, Tamara Johnson, Brandy Paul, Andrew Paul, Travis Paul, and Jacob Paul; seven great-grandchildren, Cody, Robert, Elizabeth, Emma, Hunter, Lacy, and Alisa; and many relatives and friends.

 

Ernest was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Margaret Rabehl, Elsie Kraft, Clara Brunn, Hilda Pollasch, and Mildred Dretske; four brothers, Herbert Paul, Clarence Paul, Harvey Paul, and Lawrence Paul; a son-in-law, Gregory Johnson; a grandchild, Nicholas Johnson; and a great-grandson, Benjamin Paul.

 

Funeral services for Ernest A. Paul will be held Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Fox Lake with Rev. David Nottling officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park in Fox Lake. Friends and relatives may call on the family on Wednesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
