Esther Daun

Esther Daun, age 93, of Chilton, died on Monday, January 8, 2018 at Atrium Post Acute Care in Chilton.   She was born on September 7, 1924, daughter of the late Joseph & Frances (Seurer) Nett.



While waiting for her sweetheart, Albert C. “Bert” Daun to be discharged from the Army during WWII, she worked at the Leverenze Shoe Factory in New Holstein.  Following their marriage on May 23, 1946, the couple had shared 71 years together farming side by side on Paradise Road near Charlesburg.



Among her favorite things to do were gardening, crocheting, reading bird and floral magazines and scrap booking as well as journaling.  She made wonderful chocolate candy every Christmas.  When her children were young, she was a 4-H cooking Leader and was active in the St. Charles Catholic Parish in Charlesburg.  She enjoyed going to rummage sales, flea markets, driving her John Deere Gator, and attending tractor shows where she socialized at every opportunity.



She is survived by her husband: Bert; her children: JoAnn (Daun) Mueller and son-in-law, Ray of Hilbert, her son: Mark and daughter-in-law Carol of Kiel.  Her grandchildren are Jeff Mueller and his wife Heather of Appleton, Kyle Mueller of Sherwood, Jesse Daun of Denver, CO, Sherry Daun and her husband Jonathan of Chicago, IL, Derek Daun and his wife Katharyn of Sacramento, CA; and two great-grandchildren: Wellington & Lilac and Sierra arriving in March.  Esther is also survived by her sister: Donna Heimermann of Kiel and a sister-in-law: Martha Nett of New Holstein.  She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.



Esther was preceded in death by her parents; a brother: Robert Nett; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Lester Heimermann, Otto (Alma) Daun, Herman (Erma) Daun, Sister Erna Daun and Sister Jann Daun.



Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church (1724 Madison St.) in New Holstein with Rev. Patrick Nelson officiating.  Entombment will be in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum in Fond du Lac.  Visitation will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Church from 8:30 am until 10:45 am on Friday, January 12, 2018.
