Esther M. Schumacher

Esther M. Schumacher, 95, passed away on November 7, 2021 at the Villa Loretto in Mt. Calvary. Esther was born to Henry A. and Cecelia A. (Birschbach) Kraus on October 4, 1926 in St. Peter, Wi on the Kraus Family Farm.

Esther went to grade school at St. Peter Catholic School in St. Peter.

Esther married Edward Schumacher, Jr. on May 21, 1947 at St. Peter Catholic Church. After their marriage they farmed the family homestead for 40 years. She enjoyed time spent sewing, gardening, cleaning hickory nuts and raising chickens. She continued her house keeping duties at the hospital to the private sector. Her grandkids were very important to her and she helped out any way she could.

She is survived by her five children, Dave (Ann) Schumacher of St. Peter, Diane (Richard) Marion of Malone, Donald (Pat Jones) Schumacher of Fond du Lac, Kathy (Tim) Strean of Fond du Lac and Linda Vogds of Malone. She is further survived by her grandchildren, Julie Schumacher, Carrie Schumacher, Becky Schumacher, Michelle (friend, Brian) Kutz, Rick (Lori) Marion, Douglas (friend, Holly) Marion, Melinda (Tom) Cranwell, Michael (friend, Nicole) Marion, Mark (friend, Kim) Marion, Tracy Schumacher, Shawn (Heather) Schumacher, Tony (friend, Kristen) Strean, Ryan Strean, Lisa (Brian) Hendrickson and Jason (Stephanie) Vogds; 15 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Bernice Sabel; brother, Clarence (Sara) Kraus; sister-in-law, Mary Kraus; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Edward Schumacher, Jr.; her parents; parents-in-law, Edward and Julia (Schmitz) Schumacher; son-in-law, John Vogds; siblings, Stella (Clarence) Schaefer, Mildred (James) Murphy, Lawrence (Marie) Kraus, Sylvester Kraus, Marceline (Elmer) Sabel; brother-in-law, Delbert Sabel; Siblings-in-law, Aurelia (Oliver) Nett, Andrew (Marie) Schumacher, Paul (Edwina) Schumacher, Francis (Laurina) Schumacher, and Marie (Delmar) Buechel.

Esther’s Family will greet friends and relatives for visitation from 9:00 am to 11:45 am on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at St. Peter Catholic Church, N8079 Church Rd, Malone, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow visitation at 12:00 pm. Private family entombment will be at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum at Ledgeview Memorial Park at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed in Esther’s name to the family for a memorial which will be set up at a later date.
