Esther M. Wagner

Esther Minnie Wagner, 82, of Chilton, died on October 18, 2018, at Atrium Post Acute Care in Chilton. She was born November 28, 1935, in Hilbert, WI, daughter of Gerhard, Sr. and Arlene Jentsch. On April 25, 1953, she married Lawrence Wagner at St. Martin Lutheran Church in Chilton, and together they adopted two children.

Esther was a member of St. Martin Lutheran Church and was a very faithful woman. She willingly devoted her free time to her church, as a Sunday School teacher, as a member of the St. Martin’s Women’s Guild, and as the St. Martin Funeral Dinner coordinator. Giving to others was a part of her nature and she gladly helped anyone in need. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, volunteered her free time to the Shepherd’s Attic, and acted as leader for the Campfire Girls. Her caring was felt strongest by her grandchildren, whom she always put first in her world. Esther was honest, hard-working, and she loved to cook.

Esther is survived by her daughters: Julie (Bill) Bargholtz, and Kathy Wagner (Gary Hawk, fiance); grandchildren: Brooke Bargholtz, Erik Bargholtz, Kara Wagner, and Kenneth Hylleberg; sisters: Lorraine and Anna; brothers: Gerhard, Jr., Gustave, Alvin, Arthur, Ronald, Roger, and Allan; and many nieces, nephews, and their families.

Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; her parents: Gerhard, Sr. and Arlene; brothers: Waltermore, Sr. and Hugo; two brothers-in-law; and a sister-in-law.
