Eugene N. Barr

Eugene Nickolas
Barr, 83, a resident of Fond du Lac, passed away March 14, 2018 at St. Agnes
Hospital.


He was born
September 6, 1934 in Fond du Lac, a son of Alvin and Marie Faber Barr.


Gene was a
1953 graduate of Fond du Lac Senior High School. Following graduation he
enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany.


Upon his
return to Wisconsin he was united in marriage to Kathleen Marcella Diedrich at
St. Claudius Catholic Church, St. Cloud WI on September 8, 1956.


For 42
years, Gene was employed by Giddings & Lewis Company, starting as a
machining apprentice and later becoming Superintendent, retiring in 1997.  Gene loved a good sheepshead game and to hunt
and fish with his sons and grandchildren. He also loved his nights out with
Kate and his family.


Survivors
include his wife of 61 years, Kate, children, Cindy (Jay) Barr-Scott of Fond du
Lac, Dan (Jane) Barr of Fond du Lac, Julie (Dan) Smet of Fond du Lac, Vicki
(Frank) Vondrak of Menomonee Falls, Tony (Maggie) Barr of Fond du Lac, 13
grandchildren, Ryan (Pam) Barr, Mandy (Joey) Galligan, Luke (Krissy) Smet, Cory
Barr and Anne, Andrew Barr and Zach, Joe Barr and Nachely, Jeni Barr, Leah Smet
and Troy, Emily Smet and Logan, Sofia Vondrak, Jake Barr, Ellie Barr, Annie
Barr, nine great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Maliyah and Sawyer Galligan, Logan
Smet, Lauren Barr, Madison Barr and three “on the way”.


He is
further survived by a sister, Betty (Bill) Drexel, sisters-in-law, Verna
Bechard, Norma Ausloos, Mary (Harold) Hellman, brothers-in-law, Joe (Peggy)
Diedrich, Mark Diedrich, and Bob Kohlman, nieces, nephews, other relatives and
friends.


He was
preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alfred and
Emma Diedrich, his in-laws, Lorraine Kohlman, Al Diedrich, Leonard Ausloos,
John and Marly Diedrich, Dick Bechard and Karen Diedrich.


Visitation:
Visitation will be held on Monday March 19, 2018 from 9:00 AM to 11:45 AM at
Holy Family Parish, 271 Fourth Street Way, Fond du Lac.


Service: A
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Parish at 12:00 noon
Monday. Entombment will be in the Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary
Cemetery.


In lieu of
flowers, memorials in his name may be directed to Holy Family Parish or St.
Mary’s Springs Academy.
