Eugene P. Totzke

Eugene P. Totzke, age 85, formerly of Hilbert & Chilton, died on Friday, October 19, 2018 at Fond du Lac Lutheran Home in Fond du Lac.  He was born February 7 1933, son of the late Paul & Mary (Armstrong) Totzke.  On November 12, 1955, Gene married Janet Brantmeier at St. Mary Catholic Church in Stockbridge.



Gene enjoyed fishing and camping with his family and was a Hilbert Scout Leader and member of the Hilbert Fire Department in his younger days.  He was a talented musician who could play the accordion by ear and kept the beat for the Chilton City Band as a bass drummer for many years.  After Gene retired from Calumet County Highway Department, he volunteered as a Salvation Army Bell Ringer and driver for Calumet County with Janet as his faithful sidekick.



Survivors include his wife: Janet; three children: Dennis (Lorie) Totzke of Malone, Darlene (Rich) Buechel of Chilton, Diane (Patrick) McClone of Fond du Lac; six grandchildren: Christina (Mark) Lefeber, Paul Totzke, Danielle (Mark) Breckheimer, Ben (Lauran) Buechel, Shannon (Mike) Graham, Shawn (Kelsey) McClone; great-grandchildren: Gracie, Lily and Laura Lefeber, Zander Totzke, Maverick and Axel Breckheimer, Riley Graham, and Baby McClone who is on the way.  He is further survived by sisters-in-law: Joelene Luniak and Jeanie (Gary) Thiel along with numerous nieces and nephews.



In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his Aunt & Uncle: Ann and Phil Halfmann who raised him; one brother: Melvin (Evelyn) Totzke; his in-laws: Herb & Ardyce Brantmeier; brother-in-law: James Brantmeier; and a nephew: Jay Luniak.



Wieting Family Funeral Home in Chilton is assisting the family with arrangements.  Per Eugene’s wishes, the funeral will be private with burial in Rothman Cemetery at a later date.



Eugene’s family would like to thank the staff of Century Ridge in Chilton, the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home, and Marquardt Hospice for their care and compassion.
