Florence B. Moehn

Florence B. Moehn, age 87, of Chilton, died on May 21, 2019, at Century Ridge Assisted Living in Chilton. She was born June 30, 1931, in Chilton, daughter of Carl and Anna Grittner. On July 20, 1954, she married Clifford Moehn, and together they had four children.

Florence was a farmer’s wife and knew how to help run the family farm, staying kind to everyone and never complaining. Above all else, though, she ran her home and took care of her family. Family always came first to Florence and she was proud to introduce her children to anyone they met. Florence was a fabulous cook and baker; her house never had a lack of sweets, and she even grew some of her own food in a large garden every year. Florence loved crafting – crocheting, quilting, and sewing; she acted as her family’s seamstress, and she made tea towels for all of her grandchildren. She cherished the memories she had of babysitting during the summers while she was a teenager, for her family in Marshfield. She also loved spending time with Cliff, whether it was dancing to polka music, taking bus tours around the country, or escaping for their annual trip to Minocqua. They enjoyed playing Sheepshead with local friends and family, and she made sure there was coffee and desserts ready for the games, even at midnight.

Florence is survived by her children: Kenneth (Sue Mueller) Moehn, Stephen (Trish) Moehn, Linda (Larry) Engel, and Robert (Patty) Moehn; ten grandchildren: Jennifer Karls, Amanda Loewe, Chris Moehn, Nicole Boll, Eric Boll, Joe Boll, Tony Boll, Kathryn Kress, Andrea Buechel, and Nick Moehn; eleven great-grandchildren; a sister: Rose Peter; sisters-in-law: Helen Lucey and Carol Mueller; and brothers-in-law: Matt Moehn, Art Moehn, and Jerry Moehn.

Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford; her parents: Carl and Anna Grittner; her in-laws: Mathias and Magdalena Moehn; sister: Helen Grittner; sisters-in-law: Lucille Martin, Luella Brooks, and Mary Schwobe; and brothers-in-law: Ralph Peter, George Moehn, and Harold Moehn.
