Florentine K. Treuschel Brenner

Our tender, loving, kind and gentle mother, Florentine “Tina” K. Treuschel Brenner, 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 10, 2014, in the comfort of her home.

She was the daughter of Walter Harold Treuschel and Helen Lucille Ludtke Treuschel.  She was born in South Bend, Indiana.

Mom lived all of her adult years in Fond du Lac.  She graduated from Fond du Lac Senior High School in 1944.  Prior to her marriage she was employed by O’Brien’s Dry Goods Store and Culvert’s Appliance Store.

Mom married our dad, John B. Brenner, on March 31, 1951, at Division Street United Methodist Church.  They recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary.  John met Tina when he kept coming into Culvert’s to check out, ‘Tina’s record of the week’, after listening to KFIZ radio.

Our fondest memories of mom include enjoying delicious, nutritious meals together, magical holiday celebrations, an endless supply of fresh baked goodies, home-made Christmas stollens that were shared with neighbors and friends, wonderful flower and vegetable gardens, creative work such as knitting beautiful sweaters and sewing clothing for children and grandchildren, quilt work, tailor made suits, ceramics, summer days soaking up the sun and cooling off in Lake de Nevue and countless other ways she shared love and joy with her family and friends.

Mom volunteered for many years at St. Agnes Hospital and served on the Agnesian Healthcare Volunteer Advisory Board from 2001-2005.  She raised her family within the community of fellowship at Division Street United Methodist Church, now Covenant United Methodist.  She taught Sunday school, played in the bell choir and was an active member of the Woman’s society at the church.

Our family includes our dad, John; children: Stephen Brenner and his wife Dana of Granbury, Texas, Katharine Brenner of Elm Grove, Wisconsin, and Christine Draxler and her husband Frank of Eau Claire, Wisconsin.  Mom was blessed with six grandchildren: Paige Brenner Largent, husband Bryan, Amy and Benjamin Colla, Clark, wife Danielle, Cortney and Elliot Draxler; along with three great grandchildren: Owen, Ethan and Shane which completed our family.

She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Mom was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Marilyn; her sisters-in-law: Barbara and Helen; her brother-in-law, David; and nephew, Jeff Treadwell.

A service of remembrance will take place at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 17, at Mach Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 31 E. Division Street, Fond du Lac.  Visitation will precede the service from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Entombment will be in Rienzi Mausoleum.

Memorials may be directed to Covenant United Methodist Endowment Fund.

Our family greatly appreciated the genuine kindness and support shown to our mother and family by the staff of Visiting Angels and Heartland Hospice Care.
