Francis A. Ziegelbauer
Francis A.
Ziegelbauer (aka Fritz & Ziggy), age 86, peacefully ended his battle with
cancer at his home in Chandler, Arizona on Monday, January 5th with both of his
daughters at his side.
Fritz is survived by
his daughters Anne M. Pierce and Mary F. Ziegelbauer, both of Fond du Lac,
Wisconsin; grandchildren, Krystle Pierce, Brittany Pierce (special friend Tyler
Schmidt) and Dillon and Holden Gwozdz; great-grandchildren Ayden, Zen, Masyn and
Emma; brother James (Irene) Ziegelbauer,
Manitowoc, WI., many nieces,
nephews, relatives, friends and special
friend Peggy Feuer.
He was preceded in
death by his wife, Theresa, parents George and Diana Ziegelbauer; brother
George Ziegelbauer, Jr.; sisters-in-law Leona Ziegelbauer & Mary Ellen
Eiermann; brother in-law Robert Eiermann and niece Mary J. Ziegelbauer.
Born in Shawano, Wisconsin and raised in
Manitowoc, Wisconsin, he attended St. Norbert College for two years before
transferring and graduating from Marquette University School of Dentistry,
after which Fritz served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy. He was a Dentist & Radiological Defense
Officer aboard the aircraft carrier USS Oriskany – the ‘Mighty O’.
Fritz then married
Theresa (Therese) A. Calhoun, and they settled in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, where
he took over Dr. H.J. Halverson’s Dental Practice.
An avid golfer all
of his adult life, the seven wonders of Fritz’s world were the seven
holes-in-one he got! A devout Catholic,
Fritz was a parishioner at St. Mary’s in Fond du Lac, WI, as well as, St.
Steven’s in Sun Lakes, AZ.
Fritz was a member
of the American Dental Association, Knights of Columbus, and also a life member
of The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE). He frequented the Elks Lodge #57 on Sheboygan
Street in Fond du Lac where he and Therese bowled for years and also enjoyed
many a Friday Night Fish Fry.
Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday,
January 13th, 2015 at 2:00pm at St. Steven’s Catholic
Community Church: 24827 S Dobson Road Sun Lakes

A Reception following Mass will be held at SunBird Clubhouse, 6240 S
SunBird Blvd, Chandler, AZ 85249 Francis will be laid to rest at the
National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona on Friday, January 16th,
2015
