Franklin H. Krug

The gates of Heaven opened Sunday afternoon, and let one more carpenter in, Franklin H. Krug, 87, of Fond du Lac, died Sunday, January 24, 2021 at his residence.  He was born in the Town of Forest on March 17, 1933, the son of Joseph and Lea (Mueller) Krug.  Franklin served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 – 1956.  On April 8, 1961 he married Lois Wagner in the Town of Forest and she preceded him in death on August 7, 2015.  He worked for Mercury Marine until his retirement in 1997.  Franklin was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac.  He enjoyed woodworking, bowling, golfing, playing cards with friends, family summer vacations, and was an avid Brewer and Packer fan. 

He is survived by his children, Debora Jaeger of Fond du Lac, Barbara Krug of Fond du Lac, Tamara (Tom) Schanke of Elkhart Lake, Gloria Krug of Fond du Lac, and Todd (Karla) Krug of Green Bay; nine grandchildren, Dan (Heather) Jaeger, Kate (Joel Symons) Jaeger, Anne (Dusty) Hebel, Tony (Emily) Jaeger, Shane Schanke, Jenna (Nic) Rabe, Jarett Schanke, Evan Krug, and Erika Krug; five great grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Thomas Rauls and Charles Wagner; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.  He was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law, Norman and Luella Wagner; his wife, Lois; son-in-law, Robert Jaeger; an infant brother, Roger Krug; sister, Dorothy (Wilbur) Hinz; brother, Howard Krug; sisters-in-law, Mary Rauls and Lorraine Wagner; nieces, Mary Baehman and Dorothy Rauls.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 29, 2021 from 9:00 – 11:00 AM at Faith Lutheran Church, 55 N. Prairie Road, Fond du Lac.  The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM on Friday at church.  Burial will be held in Estabrooks Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to WLA or Faith Lutheran Church in Franklin’s name.

The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Agnesian Home Hospice, especially Stacy, Betty, and Kim, for the care and compassion given to Franklin and his family.
