Franklin W. Gronemeyer

Franklin W. Gronemeyer, 85,
of Fond du Lac, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2019.

 

He was born on August 3, 1933,
in Germantown, the son of Alvin and Alma Hafemeister Gronemeyer.  He was a graduate of West Bend High
School.  On May 4, 1957, he married
Arleen N. Sachse, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Freistadt. They lived in
Germantown for 39 years.

 

Franklin started work at the
Germantown Lumber Yard, in Germantown. 
He then took a position as the head of maintenance at Range Line in the
Mequon-Thiensville School District, where he worked for 34 years.  He retired from there in 1995.  Franklin spent 12 years as an Ozaukee 4-H
Leader teaching woodworking to many youth. 
He was a talented furniture and cabinet maker and could make or fix
anything wood.  Franklin and Arleen moved
to Fond du Lac 20 years ago.  He was a
member of Faith Ev. Lutheran Church, and was always willing to serve where
needed as a volunteer.    He enjoyed collecting toy tractors, model
cars and clowns.  Franklin enjoyed
playing the accordion and listening and dancing to polka music.

 

He is survived by his wife,
Arleen Gronemeyer of Fond du Lac, his children: Frank (Kristin) Gronemeyer of
Auburndale and Lori (Jim) Quackenboss of Fond du Lac; eight grandchildren: Alex
(Jenessa), Caleb, Tori and Rachel Gronemeyer and Andrew, Eric, Bradley and
Katie Quackenboss; his brother-in-laws and sister-in laws, Marjorie (Kermit)
Habben of Phoenix, AZ, Richard Sachse of California, Jackie Sachse of Queen
Creek, AZ, Eleanor Gronemeyer of Cedarburg, and many nieces, nephews and
friends.

 

He was preceded in death by
his parents, his brother Rollo, and his sister Doris (Clarence) Knuth.

 

VISITATION: Friends may call
on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, from 9:00 – 12:00 p.m. at Faith Ev. Lutheran
Church, 55 Prairie Road, Fond du Lac.

 

FUNERAL: Funeral services
will be held on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at 12:00 p.m. at Faith Ev. Lutheran
Church, with Rev. David Haugly officiating. 
Burial will follow in Lyons Forest Home Cemetery on Hillview Road in St.
Cloud. 

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials
appreciated to Faith Ev. Lutheran Church and School, or a charity of one’s
choice.
