Gary I. Sampson

Gary Ivan Sampson, 69, of Campbellsport passed away peacefully into eternal life on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving wife, Ginny and his faithful pup and companion, Fluffy. 



He was born on June 12, 1949 in Fond du Lac, the son of Ivan and Elaine L. (Waehler) Sampson. Gary was a resident of Lomira for his early life where he attended grade school and high school, graduating from LHS in 1967. 



He served in the United States Army in Korea as a Communication’s Specialist from 1969-1971. 



Gary attended United Technical Institute in Milwaukee and worked for the Charles Staling Co. in Lomira from 1971-1978 and then started his own trucking company, Sampson Trucking Service which he operated from 1979-1989. Later he worked for Schetzel Trucking in Fond du Lac from 1989-1990, Clarden Trucking of Oshkosh from 1990-1995, Michaels Materials from 1995-2000, HT Enterprises from 2000-2003, Custom Wood Carving from 2003-2007, Kevin’s Trucking in West Bend from 2007-2010, Batzler Trucking 2010-2014 and Legacy Express for whom he still worked. Gary was gifted with all things mechanical. 



He helped many of his siblings and friends lengthen the lives of their cars with his expertise, plus his willingness to tackle whatever “transportation challenges” they were experiencing. 



He was active in numerous large and small bible-studies over the years. 



Gary was a member of Spirit of Life Church in Fond du Lac and also was co-owner of New Beginning Wellness, LLC. 



Those Gary leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife Virginia, sons Brian of Canyon City, CO, Grant of Tucson, AZ and Aron “Buddy” (Lexie) of Fond du Lac, step-children Heather (Mary) Whittaker of Oshkosh and Aaron Whittaker of Madison, grandchildren Mason Sampson, Ethan Sampson, Bentley Zona, Faith Kasper, Bryson Sampson, Riley Thore and Farrah and Oden Thorpe. He will be sorely missed by his 8 siblings Christine (Michael) Brandt of Goodyear, AZ, Joan (John Burlowski) Sampson of 



Cold Springs, KY, Robert (Jill) Sampson of Monroe, Phillip (Karen) Sampson of Lomira, Laurie (Peter Langenfeld) Sampson of Poway, CA, John Sampson of Trenton, MO, Stephen (Trish McDonald) Sampson of Fort Meyers, FL and Joel (Marie) Sampson of Lanesboro, MN and their families as well as his brothers-in-law and sister-in-law Spencer and Debbie Krahn and Bill and Barbara (Krahn) Hanrahan. 



Also special friends Marc Roehl and Doug Hahn, numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. 



Gary was preceded in death by his parents Ivan and Elaine, youngest brother Carlton, grandparents, step-son Bradly Whittaker and granddaughter Grace Elizabeth Thorpe. 



A celebration of Gary’s life will be held on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Spirit of Life Church, 240 N. National Ave. in Fond du Lac. 



Ginny and family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday December 16th from 1:30 to 3:30 pm. 



The celebration service will begin at 3:30 pm and burial will be private at a later date. 



In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Gary Sampson Memorial Fund are greatly appreciated. 



The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. John Whitcomb, MD, Bev and Sharon of the Brookfield Longevity and Healthy Living Clinic and Jo Anne, Erin and Eunice of Heartland Hospice Care in Fond du Lac who helped support and care for Gary.
