Gary O. Stern

 Gary
Oran Stern, 73, entered into heaven on January 9th, 2019 with his brother,
nephew and niece by his side, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. Gary was
born March 25th, 1945 at Milwaukee West Side Hospital to Betty Jane Pergande
and Joseph Stern.

 

Gary
received Christian Baptism on June 24th, 1945, at the Lake Park Lutheran Church
in Milwaukee. His sponsors were Audrey Pergande and Tony Uebelacker. 

 

Gary
served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1965. He served with the 1st Battalion,
511th Infantry, 11th Air Assault Division in Korea. The men of “Assault
II”, “Hawk Blade”, “Hawk Arrow”, and “Hawk
Thrust” will be remembered as men of daring and conviction who served and
risked their lives that our Army might remain equal to its mission of preserving
our great nation.

 

Gary
was employed by Wells from 1967 to 1994. He then was employed by Mercury until
his retirement in 2006.

 

Gary
enjoyed bowling, golfing, and trap shooting.  He especially enjoyed
getting together with friends and family to play cards.

 

He
is survived by his brother, James (Carol), of Kenosha, his sister-in-law,
Janiece, of Wautoma; two nieces, Melissa (Boomer) and Ruth (Joe) of Kenosha; seven
nephews, Dennis, of Wautoma, Mike (Traci), Steve, Daniel (Maggie), James
(Amber), all of Kenosha, Joshua (Kristiana), of Gales Ferry, CT. and Scott, of Washington,
D.C.; also, many other relatives and friends.

 

He
was preceded in death by his parents and brother Tony.

 

SERVICES:
Visitation for Gary will be on Monday, January 14, 2019 from 12:00 Noon to 12:45
PM at Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E. Division Street in Fond du Lac. A memorial
service will be held at 1:00 PM with Military Honors to follow. Cremation has
taken place.
