Genevieve E. Wing
Genevieve “Jean” E. Wing, 95, of Waupun, died Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at her residence with family by her side. She was born on July 4, 1926, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of William and Genevieve (Howard) Wing. Jean was raised in Michigan and graduated from St. Peter and Paul Academy in Ionia. She spent the next several years teaching in a one room schoolhouse in Michigan, working in a spark plug factory in Ionia during World War II, and proudly graduated from Marquette University in Journalism and obtained a master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh in Education. She continued her teaching career in the Milwaukee public schools before moving to Fond du Lac where she taught elementary school for another 30 years.
Her family brought her great joy. Jean enjoyed taking her children on family vacations and encouraging them with their interests. She enjoyed quilting and taught her children to love all animals. She took great pride in her Irish heritage and later got the opportunity to travel to Ireland with her family. Jean lived in Fond du Lac until 2018, when she joined Peggy and Dave on their farm near Waupun. Dave renovated for her an adorable little house of her own where she cherished living, surrounded by a menagerie of farm animals and favorite dogs.
She is survived by three children, William Wing, Marguerite “Peggy” (Dave) Teasdale, and Elizabeth “Betsy” (James Haney) Wing; two grandchildren, Patrick and Genevieve Haney; brother, John (Sandy) Loughlin of MN; and sister-in-law, Joyce Wing of MI. She was preceded in death by her parents; former husband, James L. Wing; son, James M. Wing; three siblings, Mary Suazo, and Bernie and Bill Loughlin; and four siblings-in-laws, William Wing, Tom Wing, Jack Wing, and Anne Beirne.
Services are planned for a later date. Cremation has taken place.
