George C. Goeldi

George C. Goeldi, age 84, of Chilton, died on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Atrium Post Acute Care in Chilton.  He was born May 22, 1933 in New Holstein, son of the late George F. & Hedwig (Brandes) Goeldi.  



From the time George began high school, he worked on his family’s farm in the Town of New Holstein until 1964 when his mother sold the farm and he began working at Chilton Metal Products.  



It was during this time he met Joyce Fromm while miniature bowling.  He was smitten with love and the couple was married on May 8, 1965 at St. Peter United Church of Christ in Kiel. George continued to work at Metal Products for 17 years before he began driving truck for the New Hope Center in Chilton and later for Sargento in Kiel before retiring in 2004.



He was a member of Ebenezer UCC where he volunteered tending to the church grounds and had served terms on the church council, and was a member of the Chilton Eagle’s Club.  In his free time, George enjoyed time spent fishing and was afforded many opportunities to lend a helping hand at the Calumet County Fairgrounds.  



Survivors include his wife of 53 years: Joyce; his son: Jeffrey (Deb) Goeldi; 3 grandchildren: Michael (Shannon) Goeldi, Nathaniel (Shannon) Goeldi, & Jacob Goeldi; and a brother-in-law: Roger (Rosalie) Fromm.  He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.



George was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law and father-in-law: Katherine & Henry Fromm; 4 brothers-in-law; 4 sisters-in-law; and 4 nephews.  



Funeral service will be at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 25, 2018 at Ebenezer UCC (44 W. Washington St.) in Chilton with Rev. Michael Safford-Kennedy officiating.  Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday, May 24, 2018 and on Friday at the church from 11:30 am until 12:45 pm.
