George F. Semenas

George Frank Semenas, 90, a resident of North Fond du Lac, was reunited with his
wife in heaven on July 22, 2018.
He was born September 11, 1927 in Fond du Lac, a son of the late Frank A. and
Corinne (Prefontaine) Semenas.
On November 8, 1958 he married Phyllis Joan Rieder at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
George was a graduate of St. Mary’s Springs Academy in 1945. Following high school
he served in the United States Army with the Military Police in Texas. After his
military service, George and his brother Joseph started Semenas Bros. hauling milk.
The business later evolved into Semenas Bros. Excavating. Following his brothers
retirement, the business became Semenas Excavating & Trucking Inc. which still exists
today. George enjoyed bowling, photography, music, and travel and making friends
wherever he went. He was an active member of Presentation Parish and a former
member of the Church Council, Chairman of the Parish Festival, a member of the
North Fond du Lac Optimist, the Blizzard Buzzards Snowmobile Club and was a long
time member and President of the Calvary Cemetery Board of Directors.
Survivors include two sons, Ron (Lisa) Semenas of Fond du Lac, Michael (Leah Stenson
and her son Derek Faust) Semenas of Oshkosh, one daughter, Susan (Jason King)
Harbridge of Oakfield, two grandsons, Adam Semenas and Christopher (Rachel)
Semenas all of Fond du Lac, four great-grandchildren, Emili, Clayton, Karley and Kara
Semenas. He is further survived by other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis on March 14, 2015, three sisters, Mary
Frances (Carl) Weigel, Virginia C. Semenas, and Theresa A. (Gerald) Butzler and by a
brother, Joseph A. Semenas.
VISITATION: The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday July 26, 2018
from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E. Division Street Fond du Lac,
WI. There will also be visitation on Friday July 27, 2018 at The Presentation of the
Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 701 Michigan Avenue North Fond du Lac, from 9:30 to
10:45 AM.
SERVICE: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Presentation Parish on Friday
at 11:00 AM. Cremation has taken place and inurnment will be in the Chapel of the
Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery.
