George Howard Mueller

George Howard Mueller, 83, of  Fond du Lac, died Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at home.

 

He was born on September 15, 1929, to Rev. August and Martha Dietrich Mueller in Arpin, Wisconsin, the seventh of eight children.  George was baptized on October 6, 1929, at the parsonage.  He was confirmed in the faith on May 24, 1942, at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Germania.

 

He graduated from Montello High School in 1947, and later attended the National Institute of Dry Cleaning in Silver Spring, MD.

 

On October 20, 1951, he married Elaine E. Schultz at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Princeton.

 

George and Elaine owned Like Nu Cleaners in Princeton from 1951-1964.  After that, they moved to Fond du Lac where he managed One Hour Martinizing Dry Cleaners and later managed the dry cleaning department for Model Laundry, retiring in 1995.

 

George was also a member of the National Guard based in Ripon.  He filled his days with crossword puzzles, listening to classical music, and holidays were filled with baked goods, especially Christmas stollen.

 

George was a faithful member of Faith Ev. Lutheran Church, Fond du Lac, where he held many offices and served on various boards, and taught Sunday school for 25 years.

 

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elaine; a son, Jeff (Nadine) Mueller of Fond du Lac; and his loving granddaughter, Kayla Louise.  He is also survived by two sisters:  Alfreada Wegenke of Montello and Grace Crow of Bedford, Texas; a sister-in-law, Lynn Schultz of Fond du Lac; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He is further survived by his faithful napping partner, Muffin.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters:  Dorothy Koester and Louise Wegenke; three brothers:  Richard, Walter, and Robert; and a brother-in-law, Dennis Schultz.

 

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 1, 2013, at Faith Ev. Lutheran Church, 55 North Prairie Road, Fond du Lac, with Rev. Joel Gaertner officiating.  Burial will be in Memory Hill Cemetery, Princeton.

 

The family will greet relatives and friends on Monday at church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
