Geraldine Schiek

Geraldine Lynn Schiek (nee Roltgen) passed beautifully, peacefully, and courageously, June 6, 2021, at her home. She was surrounded by her family after a recently diagnosed Glioblastoma. She was 77.

Geri was born October 18, 1943 to John William and Ruth Rosella (nee Calvey) Roltgen in Plymouth, WI. She attended Saint Mary Springs High School in Fond du Lac where she met her soulmate and best friend, Joseph “Joe” Mathias Schiek.  Prior to marriage, Geri worked at Borden’s Cheese Factory. Geri and Joe were married May 23, 1964 at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Armstrong, WI. They were able to celebrate their 57th Wedding Anniversary just weeks before her death with their children and a toe tapping in-house band!

Geri dedicated the earlier years of marriage to staying at home with their four children. With her great sense of décor and an awesome talent for cooking, she made a beautiful home for her family and a welcoming home for their many friends.  Born out of their love for camping, Joe and Geri started Schiek’s Camping Center in 1977. Their success in sales gave them the opportunity to travel the world building great memories and many friendships.

Geri enjoyed golfing, a good card game, anything crafty, her flower garden, baking cookies, their winters in North Fort Myers, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren (not necessarily in that order!)

Everyone loved Geri for her smile, compassion and her quick-to-laugh nature. She was kind to everyone with a soft spot for babies and animals.

Geri will be missed by her husband, Joe, their four children; Christine M (Dr. Dwayne Clark) Schiek, Joseph (Chris) Schiek, Robert (Kendra) Schiek, Thomas (Heather) Schiek, 14 Grandchildren; Brittany Clark, Adelyn (Matthew) Liebelt, Amery (Tyler) Hendricks, Harrison Clark, Alexandra, Samantha, and Maxwell Schmitz, Elijah Schiek, Haley (fiancé Charlton Graves) Schiek, Estelle (Damien) Hansen, Collin Clark, Kara Schiek, Amelia and Theodore Schiek, six Great Grandchildren; Violet, Natalie, Miles, Phoebe, Ezra and baby Hendricks arriving in August, along with her siblings, siblings-in-law, many nieces and nephews, and many, many friends.

Geri was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws, Norbert and Louise Schiek, her sister Roseann Del Ponte, her brothers-in-law, Jeffery, Norbert and Gregory Schiek, sister-in-law Mary Ries, niece Jenny Ramthun and nephew Jim Graziano.

She ended her days here much as she lived them, with deep faith and quiet fortitude. The family wishes to thank Agnesian Hospice Hope for providing the great care which allowed Geri to remain home with her family.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Geri’s memory to Agnesian Healthcare Foundation Hospice, 430 E Division St, Fond du Lac, WI 54935 or to Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church, W1562 Co. Rd. B, Eden, WI 53019.

The celebration of Geri’s life will take place June 23rd, 2021, at Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church, Eden, WI. Visitation begins at 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. Geri will be laid to rest in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.
