Gertrude E. Brien

Gertrude E. Brien, 101, of North Fond du Lac died Tuesday,
July 2, 2019 at Tarfa Terrance. She was born in Owen, WI on May 9, 1918 the
daughter of Henry and Hanna Marin Puro. She married Ernest Brien on November 8,
1941 in Chicago, IL. They moved from Chicago to Kansas City, MO and then to
North Fond du Lac. Gertrude worked for Publishers News Company in Chicago, Raulf
Archery in North Fond du Lac and Miles Kimball in Oshkosh. She was a member of
St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in North Fond du Lac, the Ladies Aid of St. Paul’s
Church, and the D.A.V. Auxiliary. In her younger years, she enjoyed traveling
and being with family. She was a life-long lover of word games and jigsaw
puzzles which she continued doing even though her eyesight was failing.

 

She is survived by two daughters, Doreen Rock and Donna
Brandt; eight grandchildren, Brian Rock, Adam Rock, Jason Brandt, Kelly (Jessica)
Brandt, Ryan (Robin) Brandt, Aaron Brandt, Rebecca (Phil) Dretske, and Laura
(Brian) Rogers; twelve great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and friends. She
was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Ron; two
sons-in-law, Mike Rock and John Brandt; five brothers; three sisters; brothers-in-law;
and sisters-in-law.

 

The visitation will be held Thursday, July 11, 2019 from
2:00 – 4:00 PM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in North Fond du Lac.  The funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM
on Thursday at the church.  Cremation has
taken place and inurnment will be held in Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview
Memorial Park.

 

Gertrude had resided at Tarfa Terrance, the assisted living
facility at the Lutheran Home for three years. The family extends a special
thank you to the staff of Marquardt Hospice and everyone at the facility who
took care of her and watched over her on a daily basis while she was there.
