Gwendlynn L. Bowe

Gwendlynn L. Bowe, age 80, of Fond du Lac, died Thursday, March 4, 2021, at Edenbrook Nursing Home. She was born on May 23, 1940, in Oshkosh, WI, the daughter of Kurt and Marie (Fashenbauer) Gruhlke. On July 8, 1961, she married Ken M. Bowe at Grace Lutheran in Oshkosh. He preceded her in death on July 21, 2017. Gwen and Ken owned and operated the family dairy farm. Gwen received her teacher’s license from New Ulm, MN after high school. While working on the family farm, Gwen worked as a CNA for many years, eventually earning her RN degree from Marian University. She loved nursing and was excellent at her job. She was a smart, sweet, and caring person.

Gwen was an avid book reader. She was involved with Ladies Aid programs with her churches and up north in Wabeno. Gwen loved sturgeon spearing. In 1980 she was the season champion with her 126 lb, 74 inch sturgeon. It was on display for many years in Blanck’s Supper Club in Johnsburg. It has since been acquired by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and is on display at Pace University in New York. She is a part of history!

She is survived by her children, Otto (Karen) Bowe of Mt. Calvary, Charles (Lisa) Bowe of Fond du Lac, Ursula (Mike) Curry of Fond du Lac; her grandchildren; her great-grandchildren; her brother, Wayne (Linda) Gruhlke of Myrtle Beach, SC; her sister-in-law, Marilyn (George) Rock of Appleton; her cousins, Mike Gruhlke of Sheboygan, Carol Reichenberger of Oshkosh; special lifetime friends, Charlotte Schroeder of Tigerton, WI, Charlene Kibbe of Fond du Lac; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Kurt and Willard; one sister, Diane Gruhlke; and her beloved Great Dane Duke; and dad’s cat-Screwball.

She will be missed dearly!

Visitation will take place on Friday, March 12, 2021, from 4-6:30 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935. Funeral service will take place on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Lyons Forest Home Cemetery, Town of Forest.
