Harold A. Pape

Harold A. Pape, 98, of Fond du Lac, died Friday, July 26, 2013, at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home.

 

He was born on April 7, 1915, in Fond du Lac, a son of Henry C. and Bertha M. Jahn Pape.

 

Harold attended St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran School and graduated from Winnebago Lutheran Academy in 1931.  He then attended vocational school for two years and served with the United States Army from July to October of 1942.

 

On December 4, 1943, he married Edith Jane Stoffregen.

 

Harold was employed as a manufacturing engineer at Giddings & Lewis for 39 years, retiring in 1981.  He was a member of St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Fond du Lac, church council, and their school board.

 

He was an avid Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers fan and he enjoyed gardening and making stained glass.

 

He is survived by his wife, Edith Jane; two children:  Charles (Katherine) Pape of Delafield, and Sandy (Gary) Wagner of Fond du Lac; four grandchildren:  Michael (Jenny) Pape of Cincinnati, OH, Martin Pape of Tucson, AZ, Derek Wagner of Great Falls, MT, and Corey (Laura) Wagner of Salt Lake City, UT; four great-grandchildren:  Matthew, Christian, Lincoln and Logan Pape; a sister-in-law, Grace Pape; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter-in-law, Margene Murray Pape; a sister, Alice Reinick; and a brother, Alfred (Lorraine) Pape.

 

The funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 29, 2013, at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 1600 South Main Street, Fond du Lac, with Rev. Matthew Guse officiating.  

 

The visitation will be on Monday at church from 6:00 p.m. until the time of service.  Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday in Ledgeview Memorial Park.
