Helen A. Edwards

Helen A. Edwards, 101 ½ years young, passed away peacefully
on June 10, 2017 in her home that she loved so dearly. She was born September 22, 1915 in
Campbellsport, WI, the youngest daughter of the late Peter and Emma Kaehny
Berres.

On April 26, 1941, Helen married Royce W. Edwards at St.
Matthew’s Catholic Parish in Campbellsport, WI.
They later moved to Fond du Lac.

Before marriage, she worked on the family farm and enjoyed
dancing. After marriage, she worked for
Infant Socks. She was a very active member
of Holy Family Parish – St. Mary’s Church throughout the years … cooking hot
lunches for St. Mary’s Grade School students, assisting in the kitchen for
countless dinners and picnics, Prayer Circle member, Sunshine Lady for the
Altar Society and Bereavement Ministry member.
Helen had been a member of the Fond du Lac Chapter of the Good Samaritan
Guild … especially enjoying her visits to area nursing homes to play bingo. Helen served as a poll worker for the City of
Fond du Lac for 17 years. A woman of
strong Christian faith, she served so many in a quiet and selfless manner.

Helen was an avid bowler for many years. She enjoyed being outside, especially to shovel
snow and tend to her garden and flowerbeds.
She readily shared the produce from her garden and a good story with
anyone who stopped in to chat. She
delighted in the visits from friends and family … not realizing what an
inspiration she had been to each and everyone.

Survivors include three children: Royce J. (special friend,
Mary Faust) Edwards of North Fond du Lac; Ralph (Bev) Edwards of Shawano, and Mary
(Thomas) Rechek of Fox Lake; Seven grandchildren: Gregory Edwards, Brian
Edwards ( special friend, Tammy Walters), Aileen (Jason) Andrews, Scott (Jeanine) Edwards, Angie (special
friend, Scotty Smith) Hicks, Mindy Edwards and Joshua (special friend, Kimberly
Peterson) Rechek; Ten Great Grandchildren: Austin, Brianna, Ethan, Samuel,
Sarah, Peter, Christopher, Jacob, Cody and Kyle. She was the beloved ‘Other Mother’ to Donna
Edwards, a special Aunt and friend to so many.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Royce W. Edwards on
December 4, 1995; dear grand-daughter-in-law, Laura (Wondra) Edwards; brothers
Alvin and Henry (infant); sisters Olive Schmitz, Frances Burg and an infant
sister.

Visitation: Helen’s family will greet relatives and friends
at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 200 S. Peters Avenue, Fond du Lac, on
Saturday, June 17, 2017 from 9:00 to 10:45 AM.

Service: A Mass of
Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, June
17, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Rev. Thomas Naidu
will officiate. Entombment will be in
the Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery.
