Hilaria M. Grebe

Hilaria “Lari” M. Grebe, 91, of Fond du Lac passed away Friday, March 11, at Adelaide Place in Fond du Lac. She was born in Charlesburg, Wisconsin, on December 8, 1930, the oldest child of Alois and Catherine (Boehnlein) Halbach. Hilaria married Carlton M. Grebe on October 4, 1952, in Charlesburg. He preceded her in death on May 30, 1995.

Born during The Great Depression and molded by its hardships, Hilaria lived a life guided by strong personal and social values and always put the needs of others before her own. A proud graduate of St, Mary’s Springs Academy and Moraine Park Technical Institute, Hilaria worked as Administrative Support for Moraine Park Technical College before retiring. She enjoyed traveling and watching the Brewers, gardening, and spending time with her family. She loved attending her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s activities, and especially loved Christmas and spoiling her family.

Survivors include sons David (Eileen) and James, of Fond du Lac; son-in law Timothy Streblow of Fond du Lac; grandchildren Nicole (Chad) Mertes of Fox Crossing, Samuel Grebe of Tampa, Florida, and Alaina (Aaron) Josephson of Fort Myers, Florida; great-grandchildren Ellie and Ethan Mertes, and Scarlett and Bradley Grebe; siblings Betty Kraus, Marie Mueller, Allen (Christine) Halbach, Ruth Halbach; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Deloris Halbach, Edward (Callista) Grebe, Richard Grebe, and Margaret Grebe; plus many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Hilaria was preceded in death by her parents; son Mark and daughter Mary Streblow; siblings Alois Halbach, Roger (Helen) Halbach, and Earl (Monica) Halbach; and brothers- and sisters-in-law Herbert Muellenbach, Marvin Kraus, Robert Mueller, Bernard and Margaret Pufahl, Norbert and Valeria Grebe, Lucille Rutherford, Thomas Grebe, and Mary Jo Grebe.

Services: A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 17, at Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E Division Street, Fond du Lac WI, from 3:30-4:45 pm.  A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 pm. Entombment will be in the Chapel of the Risen Christ, Calvary Mausoleum. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to St. Mary’s Springs Academy, a hospice program of your choice, and the Alzheimer’s Association.
