Irene L. Rust

Irene L. Rust, 83, of Fond du Lac, passed away on December 2012 with her family at her side at the Hospice Home of Hope.  She was born in Sheboygan on January 3, 1929, a daughter of William and Agnes (Soucheck) Gerke.

Irene attended schools in Sheboygan and graduated from North High School.  She moved to Fond du Lac in 1955 where she worked at Bestt Rollr, Combined Insurance and Brenner Tank until retiring in 1994. 

She loved her family and enjoyed animals, cooking and baking.

Irene is survived by one son, Jay “Tom” (Sheila) Rust of Winneconne; one daughter, Lynn (Skip) Woodruff of Fond du Lac; three grandchildren, Amy (Tony) Wachewicz of Green Bay, Jay (Jodi) Rust of Winneconne, and J. C. Woodruff of Fond du Lac; two great granddaughters, Avery and Mia Rust; two sisters, Geraldine Rahn of Sheboygan and Marion (David) Vesey of Plymouth; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Gertrude Plouff and Florence Hetue; her best friend for 18 years, her beautiful black cat, Angel.

Irene requested that there be no public visitation and that cremation will take place.  A private, family memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorials in her name may be directed to the Fond du Lac Humane Society or the Hospice Home of Hope. 

Her family is grateful to all the caring, loving people at the Hospice Home of Hope who made “Granny’s” and her family’s life easier until the end.  God bless all of you!
