Jacklyn “Jackie” Henke

Jacklyn “Jackie” Henke, 76, of Fond du Lac, died at home on Sunday, February 19, 2023, in the loving arms of her family after a lengthy battle with cancer.

She was born April 11, 1946, in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Melvin & Genevieve Schoepke. On October 16, 1965, she married her childhood sweetheart Edward “Chuck” Henke at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Oakfield, WI.

She graduated from Oakfield High School in 1964 and after graduation worked for Combined Insurance in Fond du Lac, WI until 1971, when she started a family and became a “stay-at-home mom.” In 1977, she resumed her career with Zuege Optometry in Fond du Lac, where she was employed until her retirement in July 2001. After retirement, she worked part-time for Pier One Imports in Fond du Lac, until her final retirement in 2014.

She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and was especially known for her strong faith.

She enjoyed wintering in Florida and spending summer holidays at her daughter and son-in-law’s cabin north of Wisconsin Dells, but her true passion was caring for her family and grandchildren. She was a remarkable wife, mother and grandmother who always put her family first and foremost in every way and in everything she did. She loved gardening, her flowers, the holiday seasons, and especially Christmas. She was an excellent cook and spent countless hours preparing for Christmas Day and her “sour cream cookies” will be greatly missed and remembered forever.

She is survived by her husband Edward “Chuck” of 57 years, daughters: Shannon (Dan) Johnson of Pewaukee, Shellee (Tim) Schipper of Fond du Lac; her grandchildren: Eli Schipper, Simon Schipper, Theo Johnson, and Sophie Johnson. She is further survived by a sister, Karen Schoepke of Fond du Lac, brother-in-law Dick Krudwig of Fond du Lac and sister-in-law Carol Henke of Fond du Lac and many other nieces and nephews.

She was proceeded in death by her parents Melvin & Genevieve Schoepke, sister Jill Krudwig, brother Don Collien, sister-in-law Linda Collien, father and mother-in-law Paul & Viola Henke, step parents-in-law Doris and Harvey Wiese, brother-in-law Don (Boze) Henke.
