James E. Gibson

James E. Gibson, 63, was called to his heavenly home on January 16, 2021. He was diagnosed with cancer in December of 2020 and died from complications that rapidly developed. He was born on May 10, 1957 to John and Mary Jane Gibson. He graduated from L.P. Goodrich High School.

Jim married Lori Brose on September 19, 1981 at Hope Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac. He was the love of her life. Together they raised two beautiful children, David (Heather) Gibson and Kate Gibson.

During his life he formed many friendships. Jim’s working career included car sales general manager, owner of Greater Wisconsin Mortgage, LLC, manager of the fishing department at Dutch’s Trading Post and Sales Manager at Diamond Auto.

Jim was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. He was never afraid to voice his convictions. He had a great sense of humor and could tell a great joke or story based on true life experiences. His good-natured character was charismatic. All of Jim’s life he enjoyed the outdoors. One of his favorite places was his cabin up north.

Jim is survived by his wife, Lori; children, David (Heather) Gibson and Kate Gibson; aunt, Nancy Gibson; uncle, Charles (Anna) Clary; sisters-in-law, Barbara (Bill) Dusold and Sue (Dino) Colamatteo; brothers-in-law, David Brose and Frederic Brose; nieces, Emily (Chris) Kroeger, Sarah (John) Yates, Annalise (Quinn) Kalamates; nephews, Andrew (Jessica) Dusold and Dino Jr. (Melanie) Colamatteo.

Jim is further survived by his cousins, Trisha (Terry) Holz, Mary Ellen (Jim) Olig, Vickie (John) Huck, Jeff (Becky) Gibson, Brian (Kathy) Skupas, Tony Skupas, Scott Skupas, Tracy (Rob) Ansems, Cheryl (Steve) Yahmke, Josh (Nicole) Holz, Justin (Adysun) Holz, Keran (Don) Walkowicz and Tommy Goudy. Jim is also survived by many other family and friends, including brother, Bill Mongin.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, John K. Gibson; mother, Mary Jane Gibson; step-father, Maynard Miller; brother, Joel Gibson; father-in-law, Warren Brose; mother-in-law, Beatrice Brose; grandparents, William and Lorene Boling and Joseph and Ruth Gibson; aunts, Norma (Ed) Skupas and Mary Jane Goudy; Judy Skupas; Mike and Sheran Parkhurst and cousin, Scott Gibson.

Jim’s family will greet friends and relatives for a time of visitation on Saturday, January 30, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E. Division St. in Fond du Lac. Due to the current pandemic, masks are required and social distance is encouraged. Cremation has taken place. Burial will be in Rogersville Cemetery at a later date.
