James “Jim” Raymond Koepsell

James “Jim” Raymond Koepsell, 78, of 370 Willsher Drive, passed peacefully to the Lord while at home on Friday February 28, 2014.  He was surrounded by his loving wife and daughter.   During his illness he was in-home Hospice Hope care.

James “Jim” was born on December 9, 1935 in the Town of Theresa.  He was the son of Matt and Margaret Miller Koepsell.

Jim attended St. Theresa’s Catholic grade school in Theresa and graduated from Mayville High School in 1954.

On May 31, 1975 he was united in marriage to Kathleen “Kathy” Sternat at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Mayville.  Jim and Kathy were married 38 years.

Jim worked for 44 years in the grocery business and retired in 1997.  He worked for A&P during his high school days, Piggly Wiggly as Assistant Manager and Manager; Assistant Manager and Dairy Manager at Curry’s in Mayville.  He was also an Assistant Manager of Roundy’s Food in Horicon.

Jim served in the Army Reserve.  He was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mayville and Holy Family Catholic Community in Fond du Lac.

Jim enjoyed playing sheepshead, attending auto racing events, a Brewer fan, watching Packer games, outside yard work and participating in his daughter’s activities.  He was a loving and caring husband and father.

Surviving Jim are his loving wife Kathy and faithful daughter Lisa; step-mother-in-law Mary Jane Sternat of Arlington; brother and sisters-in-law Richard (Sandy) Sternat of AZ, David (Mary) Moser of TN, Diane (Terry) Opgenorth of Mayville, and Alan (Jackie) Zimmel of Mayville; a special godchild Melissa Fischbach of Beaver Dam; close friends Melvin Thelen of Brownsville, Chris (Lona) Thelen of Brownsville, and Dave (Marita) Eggers of Fond du Lac; nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Matt and Margaret Koepsell, his brother Raymond Koepsell and his sister-in-law Edith Koepsell.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at St. Agnes Hospital, St. Francis Recovery Center, and Hospice Hope for the care given to him during his illness.

Visitation: Visitation will be held on Tuesday March 4, 2014, from 4:00 to 5:45 PM at the Sacred Heart Church, 200 South Peters Ave, Fond du Lac.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, 6:00 PM at Sacred Heart Church with Fr. Ryan Pruess officiating. Entombment will follow Wednesday morning at Ledgeview Memorial Park.

In lieu of flower memorials, may be directed to Holy family Community Church, 271 Fourth Street Way, Fond du Lac and Agnesian Hospice Hope.
