Jane Catherine Engel Sizer

Jane Catherine Engel Sizer, 97, of Fond du Lac, died Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at St. Francis Home, Fond du Lac.

 

She was born on June 14, 1915, in Fond du Lac, a daughter of William D. and Madeline A. Hasley Engel.  Jane spent her childhood in Fond du Lac and graduated from Fond du Lac High School in 1934.  She graduated from UW-Oshkosh and received a master’s degree.

 

She lived in Mattoon, White Lake, Wabeno, Mayville, and retired as a teacher in Ashland, Wisconsin.

 

She was a member of the Bayfield – Washburn Eastern Star and the Congregational Church of Ashland.  Jane moved to Oshkosh in 2006 and was a member of Oshkosh White Shrine.  Her hobbies included bird watching, stain glassing, upholstering, gardening, cooking, sewing, and making jewelry.  Jane cared for her family and was always helping people and willing to do anything for everyone.  She had a generous heart, always encouraging people to reach for the stars.

 

She is survived by her daughter, Catherine Sizer Johnson and her husband, Robert A. Johnson, of Fond du Lac; her son, William Jabez Sizer and his wife, Trish, of Milwaukee; two grandchildren; and her sister, Doris E. Kerski of Oshkosh.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Woodrow Jabez Sizer.

 

A private service will be held at a later date.
