Jane Marie Schroeder

Jane Marie Schroeder, 68 passed away with her husband at her side in their home on June 4 2016 in New Holstein after a two year battle with the “C” word.

Jane was born January 12, 1948 to Herb and Gladys Goeldi. She was a lifelong member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ in Chilton where she was baptized, confirmed, and married, and where she played the organ for almost 50 years.

Jane graduated from Chilton high school in 1966 and went on to UW-Oshkosh where she graduated with both her bachelors and masters degrees in elementary education with a reading specialist focus and music minor.

Jane enjoyed her time as a car hop at the A&W in Chilton where she was pursued by a certain young handsome man from the big city of Fond Du Lac. Her and John were married May 29, 1971, and had just celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary.

She loved her career as a “professional educator” in the New Holstein School district for many years. She had spent almost 35 years in the third grade, so she had it perfected. Her career also allowed her to truly share her passion for reading and music with literally thousands of students over her tenure. She was many people’s “favorite teacher”, and favorite accompanist for hundreds of concerts and solo and ensemble competitions.

Jane loved the adventure and “learning opportunities” that travel provided. She and John had visited almost every state in the USA and even snuck in a few trips to Europe. They also greatly enjoyed the time they spent exploring the “Northwoods” of Wisconsin. She also loved spending time with her many friends, her family and even her “granddogs”

Jane is survived by her husband John and her two sons; Jason (Traci) of Clermont FL, and Jay (Gretchen) of Shawnee Kansas, her “awesome” grand children. Jacob, Grace, Will and Amelia, her brother Don (Jean) Goeldi of Chilton, and her nephew Nicholas Goeldi of Ripon and his fiancé Caitlin Jahnke. She is preceded in death by her parents, and many aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Ebenezer United Church of Christ (44 Washington St.) in Chilton with Rev. Michael Safford-Kennedy officiating. Friends may call at church from 1:30 pm until the time of service. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Chilton on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers or plants, please consider a donation to the memorial fund that will be used to establish a scholarship for future elementary educators in Jane’s name.

The family would like to thank the many health care professionals that have helped her and the family over the past few years, especially Dr. Kumar and Kyleen Flores and the staff and the Vince Lombardi “C-word” Center, and the staff at Willowdale in New Holstein and the many friends who stopped by and were brightened by Jane’s “always sunny attitude”.

Jane will be greatly missed by many, but her family takes great comfort in knowing that she is in Heaven and is no longer suffering and is sending “positive brain waves” to everyone she left behind. – See more at: http://www.wietingfuneralhome.com/obituaries/jane-m-schroeder/#sthash.PYW6Uu2K.dpuf
