Janet Eileen Potratz Martin
Janet Eileen Potratz Martin was born on March 1, 1945 to Eldon Norman and Carol Ruby O’Neil Potratz. She was the first of five children. She entered eternal life on May 5, 2022.
On April 25, 1965, on a rainy Sunday afternoon, she married Dennis DuWayne Martin Sr. They recently celebrated 57 years of marriage.
Dennis and Janet have four children Dennis (Rhonda) Martin Jr, Kathryn (Patrick) Jurgensmier, Karen Martin and Christina (Russ) Yohn. She loved all her grandchildren unconditionally Joshua and Dusten Martin, Zach Coate, Joseph Martin, Sean Jurgensmier and Peyton Lamb. She loved to attend all functions her grandchildren were in.
She is also survived by her sister Fern (William) Schmidt, sisters-in-law: Joann Farrell, Pam Beals and Luanne Potratz; brother-in-law Michael (Gail) Kenny and many nieces and nephews.
Janet was a true giver of care. She worked as a CNA at Care Center, Americana (Maple Manor). She finished her career at the Fond du Lac County Health Care Center.
To know Janet was an amazing event. She opened her arms to any family or friend. She was an amazing baker, cook and gardener. She belonged to the Oshkosh Scrabble Club. If you could beat her at a game of Scrabble, consider yourself lucky. Her crocheted afghans were works of love to those she gifted them to.
Those she is meeting at the heavenly gates are her parents, her father-in-law Gilbert (Virginia) Martin, her mother-in-law Fern (George) Kenny, her siblings: Roy, Lee and Jane Grzeskowiak and brothers in law: Eugene, Rick and Larry.
Janet’s family would like to thank Dr. Kumar and the nursing staff of 5 west for the excellent care they gave her.
Mom – you and dad have created a tight crocheted family. Our family is now missing an important stitch.
VISITATION: The family will greet friends from 4:00 – 6:00 PM on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at Ascension Lutheran Church, 901 County V, Fond du Lac.
SERVICE: Memorial services will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at Ascension Lutheran Church, with Rev. Jeff Blain officiating. Inurnment will be held at Rosendale Cemetery at a later date.
