Jerome “Jerry” G. Schingen

Jerome “Jerry” G. Schingen, 77, passed away on March 21, 2016 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on May 31, 1938 at St. Agnes Hospital, a son of Fred G. and Hilda E. (Duewe) Schingen.  Jerry attended Roosevelt School in Fond du Lac. 

Jerry proudly served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1960.  He married Bernardine J. Clark on June 10, 1961 at St. Joseph’s Church in Fond du Lac.  He was employed at International Paper, and then pursued a career in route sales for 25 years.  He then worked in maintenance until his retirement.

Jerry was very active in youth organizations, including Indian Guides, a pack leader for Cub Scouts and a coach for boys’ baseball.  He was a past member of Fond du Lac Eagles Club and the Fond du Lac Pigeon Club.  Jerry was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Community.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Bernardine, his children, Jim (Barb) Schingen, Jeff (Diane Gordon) Schingen and Judith (Brian Remmel) Schingen, two grandsons, Justin and Jeremy (Katie), one great grandson, Gavin and one great granddaughter, Alexa.  Jerry is further survived by one brother, Gordon Schingen, one sister, Joan Andrew, other relatives and many friends.

Jerome was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, Evelyn Maniatis, Robert Schingen, Grace Schingen, Eileen Hoey, Conway “Barney” Schingen, Jeanette Kaiser and Donald Schingen.

Visitation:  Jerome’s family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, March 28, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 200 S. Peters Ave., Fond du Lac, from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM.

Service:  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated following the visitation, on Monday, March 28, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 11:00 AM.  Burial with full military honors will be at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park.
