Jim Rickmeyer

Jim Rickmeyer, 77, passed away on November 10, 2021 at Harbor Haven. Jim resided there for almost six years and was well taken care of and loved on by the amazing family we have become a part of.

Jim was born in Fond du Lac to Wilbur “Rick” and Marge (Hall) Rickmeyer. He married Andrea “Andi” Taylor on March 31, 1964. Although they divorced, Jim and Andi remained friends.

On January 23, 1978 Jim married Barbara Krug.

Jim was the owner and operator of Ally’s Furniture after a long career with his dad at Rickmeyer Home Furnishings.

He was an avid bow hunter and was able to proudly boast about a couple of trophy deer he was able to “bag.” Even though dementia and Parkinson’s took over his life, his kind and generous heart never left him.

Jim is survived by those he loved and loved him and will miss him dearly: his wife, Barb; children Cary, Kim, John, Tom (Greta), and Bobby (Danielle); grandchildren Jay (Heidi), Kayla, Paige, Inga and Riggs; great grandchild Bently and sister Dorothy (Chuck) Amrhein.

He is further survived by his ex-wife and friend Andi (Mike) Scheer; in-laws Cathy and Jim Schroeder, John Krug and Nina Smithback, Lynn and Pat Fox, Linda Gustavus, Paula and Bob LaVigne, Betty and Terry Fritch, Ann Krug and David Holder, Jan and Mike Streetar, Mary Draheim, with whom he had a special bond, and Patty and Dan Waas. Dan was a good friend who Jim said he could always count on. Jim also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Wilbur and Marge Rickmeyer, in-laws Dan and Anna Krug, sister Patricia Menas, grandson Joshua Scott Rickmeyer, brother-in-law Danny Krug and brother-in-law and friend Bill Draheim.

Our hearts cannot say thank you enough to the staff at Harbor Haven for making this difficult journey easier. Their kindness and loving care of Jim all these years goes beyond words, especially during the covid shutdown when we weren’t able to visit and they truly became his family “loving on him while we weren’t able to.” Bless you one and all. We extend gratitude also to the staff of SSM/Agnesian Hospice Hope for their compassion and care of Jim.

Cremation has taken place. No services will be held, as Jim requested.

Memorials in Jim’s name can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or SSM/Agnesian Hospice Hope.
