Joan M. Marcoe

Joan M. Marcoe, 86, of Fond du Lac, died on Saturday, December 5, 2020 after a brief illness. She was born in Fond du Lac on January 27, 1934, a daughter of Frank and Mary (Hall) Schmidt. Joan was a 1952 graduate of St. Mary’s Springs Academy. On September 11, 1954 she married H. Robert “Bob” Marcoe in St Joseph’s Church in Fond du Lac. He preceded her in death on July 14, 2012.

Joan worked with Bob at Marcoe Tax Services until their retirement in 2010. In retirement she enjoyed gardening, baking and planning family gatherings. Joan also volunteered at a local grade school, helping children with reading and math. She especially enjoyed playing cards with her grandchildren. Joan loved baseball and rarely missed a Brewer’s game on television. She also was a Packer’s fan and could be heard throughout the house coaching the team through the television when a game was airing. Joan was a member of Holy Family Parish.

Survivors include her six children, Karen (Patrick) Murphy of Mequon, WI, Thomas (Pam) Marcoe of Fond du Lac, Timothy (Lori) Marcoe of Fond du Lac, Kate (Rick) Darpel of Cincinnati, OH, Kris Marcoe of Fond du Lac, and Kelley (Chad) Benson of Fond du Lac; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Lucille Schmidt; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; her brother, Arthur Schmidt; her sister, Catherine Vera Schmidt; her father and mother-in-law, Harold and Rozella Marcoe; and two brothers-in law, John (Alice) Marcoe and James (Beverly) Pitchford.

A private family service will be held followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery.

The family wishes for everyone to remain safe and healthy and thus have made the decision to host a memorial gathering for Joan during the first half of 2021 as she loved a good party. Details will be provided in the near future.

The family would like to thank Dr Lisa Weber and her team at Hospice Hope for the care and support they offered to Joan and her children during her last days, the nursing staff on 5 West at St. Agnes Hospital and the care givers at Lake View Place.
