Joey S. Schmitting

Joey S. “JoJo” Schmitting, age 37, of Stockbridge died on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Calumet Medical Center in Chilton.  He was born July 10, 1980 in Chilton, son of Lori (Hardrath) Schmitting – Czeskleba and the late Jeffrey Scott Schmitting.  



JoJo began his working career at KayTee Products in Chilton before working as a Lathe Operator at Stockbridge Engineering in Stockbridge.  



He was a member of ABATE and never passed up an opportunity of enjoy the great outdoors.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing and also began wood burnings, creating pictures for people to display in their homes.  JoJo loved to use his hands and work to create new things for people to enjoy.  He always enjoyed time spent working to further farm work and had lately picked up the art of pickling eggs.  Joe was a loving, big hearted friend to everybody he knew. He truly treasured every moment he spent with his friends and all those he loved.



Survivors include his mother and step-father: Lori & Ted Czeskleba; his maternal grandmother: Lois (Pete) Hardrath-Hau; his faithful canine friends: Daisie & Toby; his siblings:  Lisa (Bob) Cullen, Lee Schmitting and his special friend, Janet Stoelb, James (Amy) Schmitting, Julie Schmitting and her special friend, Charlie Williams, Laura (Joseph III), Schad; his Godchild and niece, Becca Schad, other nieces and nephews: Carsin, Alyssa, Nicole, Ali, Kylie, Caden, Mikayla, Jeffrey, & Olivia; and his godfather: Michael J. Hardrath. JoJo is also survived by his second family; people he adored and spent much time with: Terry, Kathy, Jason and Jeremy Moehn.  He is further survived by aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.



JoJo was preceded in death by his father; his grandfathers: Hugo Hardrath & Lester Schmitting; grandmother: Rose Heimbach Stewart; and his godmother: Gail Busse.  



Funeral service will be at 4:00 pm on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) with the Rev. Joel Brassfield officiating.  Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home from 12:00 Noon until 3:45 pm on Saturday, October 7, 2017. 



Joey’s family would like to thank the Stockbridge First Responders and the Calumet Medical Center Trauma Staff for their quick response and compassionate efforts to save our Joe.
