John D. Karl
John D. Karl, 86, of Fond du Lac, passed away on Friday, March 19, 2021 at his home with family by his side. He was born November 20, 1934 to the late Ludwig and Mable (Weeks) Karl in Fond du Lac, WI.
John was united in marriage to Shirley M. Bushman on July 27, 1963 at St. Mary’s Church in Stockbridge, WI.
John attended school in Fond du Lac and completed his education while serving in the US Army. John served his community with the Fond du Lac Fire Department for 25 years. He then drove a semi cross country for 17 years.
John was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He loved to travel with his family. John was an avid golfer, enjoyed playing cards and was always ready to help anyone in need.
John is survived by his wife, Shirley; three children, Ellen Wright of Sheboygan, Amy Karl of Madison and Brad (Casandra) Karl of Tennessee; five grandchildren, Robin (Scott) Reineking, Tom (Nicole) Wright, Maya, Archer and Hayden Karl and his sister, Katherine Drew. He is further survived by five sisters-in-law, Edna Karl, Joan (John) Jaeger, Rose Berlowski, Julia (Tom) Mayer and Elaine Bushman; two brothers-in-law, Kurt (Debbie) Bushman and Duane Olson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mary Karl; two brothers, James (JaLaine) and Richard Karl; in-laws, Roland and Veronica Bushman; three brothers-in-law, Roger Drew, Ronald Bushman and Bruce Berlowski and sister-in-law, Ann Olson.
Services: John’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, March 25, 2021 from 9:30 to 10:45 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 271 4th Street Way in Fond du Lac. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM following visitation. Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Fond du Lac Food Pantry.
