John H. Schiller

John H. Schiller, 78, of Fond du Lac, passed away June 9, 2022, at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home. He was born January 15, 1944 in Fond du Lac, a son of the late Leander and Georgine (Vandervort) Schiller.

John graduated from Goodrich Highschool in Fond du Lac, class of 1962. Shortly after graduation, John served in the US Airforce from 1964 to 1968. Soon after returning from his time in the service, he began his 34-year career at Mercury Marine. He retired from there on September 7, 2004.

John was an avid hunter. John was a part of many different sportsman’s groups and taught Hunter’s Safety as well. He also enjoyed his time spent volunteering at the Galloway House. He was a lifetime member of the Fond du Lac Historical Society. He was a member at the local American Legion Post 75.

Survivors include his cousins, Donald (Dango) Ferguson, Mary Ferguson, William (Joan Fox) Ferguson, Bill (Barb) Hanisch, Fritz Ohlrich and Mary Beth (Jim) Whitmark. He is further survived by other cousins, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leander and Georgine Schiller; and an infant older brother, John Lee Schiller.

Visitation: Visitation will be held at the Holy Family Church, 271 4th Street Way, Fond du Lac on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 from 9:00 to 10:45 AM.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM in Holy Family Church, on Tuesday, June 21, 2022. Military Honors will follow Mass at Holy Family. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home and Marquardt Hospice for their care given to John.
