John P. Becker

John Peter Becker, 86, of Campbellsport Wisconsin, entered eternal life Sunday July 8, 2018 surrounded by loved ones.

He was born in Mahnomen Minnesota on February 19, 1932, the son of the late Franz and Hedwig Becker (nee Rudnick). John proudly served his country in the U.S. Army while stationed in Alaska from 1954 to 1955. On June 30, 1956, he married the love of his life, Laurene Martha Vorderbruggen, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Mahnomen Minnesota. John worked as a plumber, painter, and welder at Gehl Company and Brenner Tank. He also raised sheep, pigs, chickens, and ducks on his hobby farm in Campbellsport Wisconsin, where he and his family resided for 52 years. Some of his favorite past times included planting trees and gardening with his family. John and his loving wife enjoyed baking apple pies to share with family and friends. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. John was one of the strongest and toughest fighters, never complaining about his ongoing health issues. Even after everything he had been through, he still kept everyone laughing with his sense of humor and wit. May he rest in peace and look over us until we meet again. We will forever miss our loving husband, dad, and grandpa.

Those John leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 62 years, Laurene; children, Gerald (Sharon) Becker, Corrine Preston, Arnold Becker, Daniel Becker, Grace (Dan) Loehr, Angela (Stephen) Galleske, and Steven (Jessica) Becker; 14 grandchildren, and one sister, Regina (Donald) Hannu. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 14 brothers and sisters, August (Sylvia) Becker, Martha (George) Jirik, Agnes Becker, Frank Becker, Emma Becker, Marie (Robert) Gudgel, Angela Becker, Helen (Albert) Becker, Victor (Dorothy) Becker, Lena (Charles) Arnold, Clara (David) Bissell, Juliana (Robert) Williams, Cletus Becker, and Rose (Clair) DePuy. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.

A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Saturday July 21, 2018 at 2pm in the Villa Loretto Chapel, N8114 Calvary Street, Mount Calvary, Wisconsin. John’s family will greet relatives and friends in the chapel from noon until the mass begins.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Cristo Rey Ranch at the Villa Loretto is appreciated.
