John Robert Bertram

After a seven month courageous battle with cancer John Robert Bertram entered into eternal life on Thursday May 15, 2014 at the age of 61.  He passed away at the Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac with his family at his side.

John was born in Fond du Lac on December 15, 1952 son of the late Alfonse and Juliana (Wettstein) Bertram.   On October 17, 1987 he married Susan (Kaiser) at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fond du Lac.

He was a graduate of St. Mary’s Springs High School, Class of 1971.  His later studies earned him the position of Financial Services Manager, most recently with Vande Hey Brantmeier in Chilton, WI for the past 13 years.  John was a member of Holy Family Parish in Fond du Lac.

John is survived by his wife Susan and sons Cory (Brenda) of Fond du Lac, Andrew (fiancée Lindsay Eldred) of Stockbridge and Nicholas at their home residence and five grandchildren:  Kelly, Savannah, Luke, Jake and Brittany all of Fond du Lac.  He is further survived by his two sisters Kathy (Joe) Schumacher of Fond du Lac and Ruth (Eric) Schumacher of West Bend  and his two brothers Norman (friend Kathy Krebsbach) Bertram of Fond du Lac and Roger (Carla) Bertram of Wausau and his aunts and uncle, Eddie and Lyla Bertram and Julitta Bertram, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.  John was preceded in death by his parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Zacherl Funeral Home 875 E. Division St., Fond du Lac from 4 to 7:30 PM.  Visitation will also be held on Friday, May 23, 2014 at Holy Family Parish Church, 271 Fourth Street Way, Fond du Lac from 9 to 10:45 AM followed with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Entombment will follow at Rienzi Cemetery.

John’s family is grateful for the care provided by his health care providers at Theda Clark Medical Center, Appleton Medical Center, John’s personal physician Dr. Michael Sergi of Fond du Lac Aurora Health Care, and the Lutheran Home and Health Services Rehabilitation Center.   Special thanks are extended to the entire staff and volunteers at the Hospice Home of Hope of Fond du Lac for their loving and caring support given for John and his family.  Also special thanks to John’s co-workers and friends at Vande Hey Brantmeier for their genuine and loving support for John throughout his illness.
