John Thomas Cetnar

John Thomas Cetnar, 50, a resident of North Fond du Lac, unexpectedly went home to his “Field of Dreams” with his family surrounding him on March 30, 2013 at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac.

He was born July 14, 1962 in Harvey Illinois, a son of John J. and Alice Bobb Cetnar.

On January 14, 1995 he married Laurie Kenyon at First United Methodist Church, Campbellsport, and their union was blessed at Presentation of the Virgil Mary Catholic Church, on January 19, 2005.

John was a 1980 graduate of Thornwood High School, South Holland Illinois. In June of 1989 John moved to Fond du Lac to begin employment with Wisconsin Central/Canadian National, as a conductor.

John was a devoted sports fan. He loved his Chicago Bears, Bulls and Blackhawks. Even the night before he died, from the first row at Miller Park, he and his family got to see his beloved White Sox beat the Brewers, 7-2. John enjoyed coaching his sons little league teams and tried never to miss a game. He enjoyed traveling with his family including his annual trip to Mackinac Island. John also enjoyed golfing, bowling, woodworking and history. He was a member of Holy Family Parish. John was a kind and thoughtful man and would do anything for anybody. He was truly a “gentle man”.

Survivors include his loving wife Laurie, one daughter Jenifer “Jen Ben” Cetnar, two sons, John C. Cetnar and Joseph T. Cetnar all at home, his dog Max and cat Cee Cee. He is further survived by his  mother, Alice Cetnar of Schererville, IN, one brother, Daniel Cetnar and nephew, Ryan of Schererville, IN, one sister, Cindy (Richard) Hickey of Hammond, IN, his mother-in-law, Pluma Kenyon, brother-in-law, Robert Kenyon and sister-in-law, Kathy (fiancee Gary Lautenschlaeger) Kedinger, all of Fond du Lac, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father John J. Cetnar, his father-in-law, Donald Kenyon, a brother-in-law Mark Kedinger, a sister-in-law, Carol (William) Muenter.

Visitation: The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday April 4, 2013 at the Zacherl Funeral Home from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Visitation will also be held at the funeral home on Friday from 9:00 to 10:45 AM.

Services: A Liturgy of the Word will be celebrated on Friday 11: OO AM. Decon Paul Monzul will officiate. Entombment will be in the Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery, Fond du Lac.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial in John’s name is being established.
