John W. Hoyt

John Walton Hoyt (John-John) of Rosendale, age 82, died peacefully on Tuesday, July 6, 2021.

John was born on August 2nd, 1938 to the late Ralph and Mae (Pillar) Hoyt. He graduated from Rosendale High School in 1956 and served his country in the United States Army from 1960-1967.

In the words of Billy Joel, “John at the bar is a friend of mine, he gets me my drinks for free”. John began serving cold ones in the early 1970’s at John John’s Stop-and-Go-Inn in Rosendale, where he was the owner until 2014. Over the years he made many friends and sponsored many teams. He was always quick with a cold beer and a dice cup, ready for a good game of liar’s dice.

He was often seen walking the streets of Rosendale, his favorite retirement hobby, with his two favorite pups, Otis and Cricket.

In 1998 he married Carol (Zabolski) Hoyt of Rosendale. They enjoyed many summers travelling the country on their Harley, and many Saturday evenings at Friar Tucks for dinner and good company.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; his daughter Emily (JB) Hoepfner of Fond du Lac; his stepdaughters Amy Andrews (special friend Jason Zweifel) of St. Louis, Missouri and Melanie (Tim) Haas of North Fond du Lac; stepson Brian Arveson (special friend Julie Molina Mulhollon) of Fond du Lac and eight grandchildren: Molly, Dylan, James, Marissa, Remington, Brockton,  Hannah and Nolan.

He is further survived by a brother, Harlan Hoyt of California; two sisters-in-law: Nancy (Rick) Munson of North Fond du Lac, Fran Zabolski of Fond du Lac, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Jolene Hoyt; three sisters: Jean Kuntz of Ripon, Charlotte Hoyt of Milwaukee, and Mary Garb of Fond du Lac; two brothers: Bruce Hoyt of Rosendale and Keith Hoyt of Rosendale.
