John W. Meyst

John W. Meyst, 81, of Fond du Lac, passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2021, at St. Agnes Hospital.

He was born on July 22, 1939, the son of William and Mary Callendar Meyst.  He was a graduate of L.P. Goodrich High School, Class of 1958.  He attended UW-Madison and UW-Fond du Lac.  He served in the United States Army Reserves. On October 18, 1971, he married Carol A. Burns.  She preceded him in death on July 26, 2020.

John was the president of Northern Aluminum Foundry Company in North Fond du Lac.  He served as the Town of Empire Supervisor for 24 years.  John was very involved with his community, serving in the following: Fond du Lac County Board Supervisor for two years, past president of Noon Rotary, and was recognized with the Paul Harris Fellow Award, a long-time member of American Red Cross, United Way President in 1980, and the Carseat Program. He volunteered at Elkhart Lake Road America and Walleye Weekend.  He was an Amateur Ham Radio operator.

He is survived by his sister Sara (Paul) Saffran of Van Dyne, his sisters-in-law Lois Meyst of Ohio and Dena Meyst of Fond du Lac and his nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife and his brothers, Peter Meyst and Will Meyst.

At John’s request, private services were held.  Inurnment took place in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum in Ledgeview Memorial Park.
