John W. Wellens

John William
Wellens, 74, passed away at St. Agnes Hospital on November 20, 2016. He was born
to Arthur and Mae Jane Wellens on November 11, 1942 in Fond du Lac. John
attended grade school at Sacred Heart and graduated from St. Mary’s Springs
Academy in 1960. He attended UW-Oshkosh.

John married
Lynn Gauthier in 1967 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, Two Rivers, WI, the day
before the first Super Bowl. They were married for almost 50 years. John was a
huge Cubs fan. He often said it wasn’t his time to go until the Cubs won the
World Series. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

John was
self-employed with his father as an insurance agent at Wellens and Son
Insurance Agency for many years. Later in years, he had a carrier service, JW
Transport. He never minded being called out any day or night.

John spent
the past seven years going to dialysis three times a week at 6:00 AM. He was a
fighter and faced his challenges with a positive spirit. He loved his family
and will be missed by all.

John is
survived by his wife, Lynn; three children, J.P. (Alicia) Wellens, Kelly
(Wayne) George and Carrie (Steve) Wallender; six grandchildren, Molly, Sydney,
Koby, Shelby, Josey and Maxwell. He is further survived by one brother, Geoff
(Denise) Wellens and one brother-in-law, Rob (Denise) Gauthier.

John was
preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Jim, and his parents-in-law,
Robert and June Gauthier.
