Joseph John “Joe” Hanke, Jr

Joseph John “Joe” Hanke, Jr., age 81, of Chilton, died on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at the Calumet Medical Center in Chilton. He was born March 10, 1935 in Charlesburg, son of the late Joseph & Leona (Hoerth) Hanke. Joe married Diana Beil in 1957 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hilbert.

He was a proud dairy farmer his whole life and possessed the seemingly endless energy required. He absolutely loved farming and planting trees and retired later in life when his health began to fail him.

He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, formerly Holy Trinity Parish in Jericho.

Survivors include his wife; Diana; his children: Joseph (Linda) Hanke, III, Linda (John) Diederichs, John (Lulu) Hanke; 9 grandchildren: Hannah, Erin, Nicholas, Ashley (fiance Josh), Brian, Emily (Special Friend, Allan), Nikita (Special Friend Garrick), Larkin, Gavin & Malia; his sister: Rita Hanke; a brother: Elmer (Donna) Hanke; sisters-in-law: Kathy Hanke, Marlene (Elroy) Kalies, Roslyn West, Doris (Bob) Vogel & Janet (Bob) Kress; and his brothers-in-law: Daniel (Agnes) Beil & Harold (Marlene) Sippel. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; a brother: Leo Hanke, a sister-in-law: Carol Sippel; and a brother-in-law: Kenneth West.

Funeral service will be at 11:30 am on Friday, April 15, 2016 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church with the Rev. Ryan Krueger and Dcn. Dennis Bennin officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Jericho. Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Friday, April 15, 2016.
