Josie Towne

Josie H. Towne, 97, of Waupun, went to be with her Savior on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at The Christian Home and Rehabilitation Center in Waupun.

Josie was born July 28, 1919 in the town of Alto, the daughter of Bert and Edna TerBeest Boerson. Josie grew up on a farm in the Alto area and attended Alto Reformed Church where she was baptized and made her confession of faith. On August 28, 1947 she married Clyde M. Towne at Alto Reformed Church. Josie and Clyde farmed in the Waupun area for several years during which time they had two sons, Daniel and Steven. They later moved to Waupun where they lived the rest of their lives. Josie spent much of her time caring for her children and grandchildren, attending all their sporting events and concerts, and baking the best ever pies and cookies. She and Clyde were members of Emmanuel Reformed Church most of their married lives where Josie taught Sunday School for 35 years. Josie truly loved her family, her many friends, and her Lord Jesus.

Josie is survived by her sons: Daniel C. Towne and Steven B. (Claudia) Towne, both of Waupun; two grandsons: Aaron (Lindsey) Towne of Mountain View, CA and Paul (Molly) Towne of Zeeland, MI; a great-grandson, Elliot Towne of Mountain View, CA; a sister-in-law, Ann Boerson of Waupun; and nieces and nephews.

Josie was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde, in 2001; two sisters: Maggie Damsteegt and Erna Kamphuis; and two brothers: Henry Boerson and Alvin Boerson.

Funeral services for Josie Towne will be held Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Emmanuel Reformed Church in Waupun with Rev. Bruce Wilterdink officiating. Burial will follow at Alto Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call on the family on Friday from 5-7 p.m. at Werner Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun and on Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
