Joyce Borndahl

Joyce (Steinbarth) Borndahl
age 92, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother passed away peacefully
at the St. Agnes Hospice Home for Hope on July 17, 2020.


She was the daughter of
Madlyn (Brunet) and Edmund /Edward Steinbarth.

She was a graduate of Fond du
Lac Senior High School, Class of 1946, and graduated from the St. Agnes School
of Nursing in 1949 as a Registered Nurse. 
She received her BSN from Marian University in 1968 and her Masters from
UW Oshkosh in 1981.


She married Robert A.
Borndahl on June 17, 1950, at Presentation Church in North Fond du Lac.  He preceded her in death on July 12,
1996.  They had 3 sons, Thomas, Jeffery
and James.


Joyce worked at St. Agnes
from 1949 -1951 as head nurse of surgery, St. Mary’s Hospital in Watertown from
1956 – 1960 as the Surgery Supervisor, after moving back to Fond du Lac she
continued her nursing at St. Agnes Hospital as Head Nurse, Supervisor and Clinical
Instructor of OR for 10 years.  She was
the Instructor of the Surgical Technology program at Moraine Park Technical
College for 18 years.  After retiring her
love for nursing led her to work with the Health Occupations Students of
America (HOSA) for another 15 years.  She
was proud to say “I have been a Nurse for 71 years”.


Joyce belonged to the
following Organizations-Local, State & National: American Nurses
Association (ANA), Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN) Vice President
& President, Association of Operating Room Technologists (AORT), American
Vocational Association (AVA) Vice President & Board of Directors, Health
Occupations Students of America (HOSA) State Advisor, and Wisconsin & Fond
du Lac Area Retired Educators Association.


Joyce went by many names, MA,
Grandma Joyce, Mrs. B, Mrs. Borndahl, but her favorite was MOMMA JOYCE.


Joyce loved her family with
her whole heart.  Her motto was “Family
First”.  Her world revolved around
spending time with her family and friends. 
She truly enjoyed hosting the gatherings with the Park Ave Neighbors for
Birthday Parties, Picnics and Holidays. Her yearly trips with her classmates
from nursing school.  Going out for
dinner with her MPTC retired friends monthly.


She is survived by her son,
James (Debra) Borndahl, daughter in law, Terry Borndahl. 


Grandchildren: Nicole (David)
Casper, Heather (Terry) Huseman, Heidi (Aaron) Potratz, Matthew and Benjamin
Borndahl. Step Grandchildren: Hoss (Mary), Colt and Buck (Amber) Jager.  Great Grandchildren: MaKenya & Landon
Potratz, Olivia & Jameson Huseman, Sophia & Eliza Casper, and Wyatt
Borndahl.  Step Great Grandchildren: Cody
and Abigail Jager.  Goddaughter: Dianne
(Louie) Hernandez and her family, Steve (Erin) and children Will & Gabe,
Dr. Tony (Jenny) and daughter Mary, and Maria (Kenric) Gibbs.  Brother in Law: Ronald (Donna) Borndahl and
their family.

She is preceded in death by
her parents, husband and two sons Tom & Jeff.


Visitation and funeral
services are pending, and will be announced at a later date.


The family would like to

the staff for their care, compassion and love given to Joyce.
