June A. Huffman

June A. Huffman, 100, passed
away peacefully on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at St. Francis Home.

 

She was born on September 30,
1918, in New Lisbon, Wisconsin, to Julius and Carrie Olsen Kretzchmar.  June graduated from New Lisbon High School
and the LaCrosse State Teachers College. 
On August 17, 1940, she married Willis (Bill) Huffman at The Little
Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.

 

She taught kindergarten
throughout the state, starting out in Monroe, Wisconsin.  She also taught in the Horicon and Fond du
Lac School Districts, where she took great pride in writing the kindergarten
curriculum.  She was also instrumental in
the development of the Head Start program. 
June was also very proud of the volunteer work she did at Hospice
Hope.  She was a life-long member of
Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church.

 

June was a wonderful lady, an
incredibly kind person, and the most caring neighbor and friend anyone could
wish for.  She was a surrogate mother and
grandmother to the Zakos family.  June
was known for making the best sour cream Christmas cookies ever.

 

She is survived by her son,
Richard Huffman of Winneconne, a special nephew and his wife, Michael and Bunny
McAlpine, a special niece and her husband, Pete and Mary Jo Ubriaco.  She is further survived by dear friends and
neighbors, Roger, Deb, Elliot, and Chris Laudolff and the entire Zakos family.

 

She was preceded in death by
her parents, her husband Bill on April 2, 1983; a daughter, Susan on September
2, 2009, her sister and brother-in-law, Jim and Evelyn McAlpine, her
sister-in-law, Hazel Huffman, and other Huffman relatives.

 

VISITATION:
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 5th from
10:00-11:00 a.m. at Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church, 20 Wisconsin American
Drive, Fond du Lac.

 

FUNERAL: Funeral
services will begin at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church with the
Reverend Thomas Meyer officiating.

 

Private graveside services to
follow.

 

Memorials in June’s name
appreciated to Agnesian/SSM Hospice.

 

The family would like to
thank the wonderful staff at St. Francis Home for the excellent care they gave
to June during her time there.  She loved
you all!
