Kathryn “Kay” De Boer

Kathryn “Kay” De Boer
passed away on March 25, 2014 after living 99 beautiful years. She looked
forward to the day she would unite with her precious Lord and Savior and
reunite with family and friends who had gone before her.

Kay was born
November 4, 1914 in Alto, the daughter of Perry and Mae Van de Vreede Buteyn.
On September 2, 1938 she married Andrew “Andy” De Boer in Brandon. Following
their marriage the couple resided in Brandon all their married lives. Kay was
employed by Brandon schools where she worked in food service. Kay was the true
matriarch of her family. Family time was very important to her. Her family
looked forward to her wonderful Sunday noon dinners and conversation around the
back table. She loved babysitting for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren,
and they will always treasure their time at Grandma and Grandpas house in
Brandon. Grandma prepared their favorite foods and special evening treats. She
was the healer of all their illnesses and the kindest of all nurses when they
were sick. Kay was a beautiful, Christian example to all who knew her. She
spent time daily in prayer, reading her Bible and devotions, and always looked
forward to worshipping at church on Sundays. She was a member of Bethel
Reformed Church in Brandon where she taught Sunday school, directed children’s
Christmas programs, and participated in Women’s Guild, Senior Bible Study and
so many other activities. She loved her church family. Kay and her husband,
Andy, had the gift of hospitality and enjoyed entertaining in their home. They
also enjoyed traveling with family and friends. Kay was a very warm, caring,
giving, accepting, selfless person and had the gift of love for everyone. She
will be deeply missed by her family and friends and has left so many lasting
impressions and treasured memories.

Kay is survived
by her daughter, Sherryl (Kurt) Kronberg of Omro; her son, Rick (Janet) De Boer
