Kelly J. Sanders

Kelly Jon Sanders, 59, of Hancock, passed away on August 1, 2017 at home surrounded by family.

Kelly was born July 4, 1958 in Waupun, Wisconsin, the son of Roger and Audrey (Bell) Sanders. On May 21, 2004 he married Paulette in Ripon, WI. Kelly enjoyed hunting with family and friends, watching the Brewers, Packers, and various car races including NASCAR, midgets, sprint cars, and most recently legend cars.  Kelly and his sons were in the process of restoring his ’86 Mustang and he was the pit crew chief for his grandson’s legend race car.  He enjoyed boating and fishing with family and friends.  Kelly was a jack of all trades and enjoyed working on home improvement projects.  Closest to his heart was spending time with family and friends including the family dogs, Lilly and Lulu, and the cat, Comet. Kelly was a talented sportsman.  He enjoyed trap shooting and sporting clays for many years at John Howard Gun Club in Waupun and Wescot Sportsman’s Club in Fond du Lac, earning top gun along with team awards and trophies. Kelly was employed by the Department of Corrections for 30 years.  During his career, he worked at the Bunkhouse, John C. Burke Correctional Center, Waupun Correctional Institution, and Fox Lake Correctional Institution before retiring from Dodge Correctional Institution in 2013.  In addition, Kelly owned and operated his heating and air conditioning business for many years.  After retirement, Kelly spent a season driving truck for Heartland Farms in Hancock, Wis.  Kelly also enjoyed working part-time at the Waushara Argus in Wautoma, Wis.

Kelly is survived by his wife, Paulette, and their blended family to include two sons: Jason (fiancé Jenni White) Sanders of Fond du Lac, Wis., and Corey (Missy) Sanders of Waupun, Wis.; two daughters: Steffanie Nally of Friendship, Wis., and Lisa (Todd) Raymond of Friendship, Wis.; eight grandchildren: Justin (special friend Kelsey Kitzman) of Waupun, Wis., Kaylee Sanders of Fond du Lac, Wis., Kaydrn Sanders of Fond du Lac, Wis., Brayden Sanders of Waupun, Wis., Ava Sanders of Fond du Lac, Wis., Audrey Sanders of Waupun, Wis., Makenzie White of Fond du Lac, Wis., and Jadyn White of Fond du Lac, Wis.; a brother, Randy (Debbie) Sanders of Richland Center, Wis.; a sister, Jaynee (Dennis) Hopp of Waupun, Wis.; along with countless other family and friends.

Kelly was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Jacquelyn Neuman; and a daughter-in -law, Sarah Marie Sanders.

Kelly, I love you with all my heart and soul. I will see you on the other side. Love Paulette

Funeral services for Kelly Sanders will be held Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun with Rev. David Bruess officiating. Friends and relatives may call on the family on Monday at the funeral home from 4-7 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
